  • Manage scheduling, coverage needs, scope of responsibilities, and ensure appropriate delegation of tasks
  • Review quality assurance and production records and provide dispositions as needed
  • Facilitate resolution to food safety and quality deviations
  • Ensure adequate laboratory supplies and consumables are maintained
  • Maintain laboratory instrumentation and quality systems, such as Analytical Methods, Calibration, and Record Retention to ensure compliance to quality standards
  • Maintain Good Laboratory Practices for material sampling, analytical procedures, and chemical control
  • Conduct food safety and quality verification checks and trend analysis of laboratory data. Generate reports with key learnings and continuous improvement recommendations
  • Participate in audit programs and conduct audits to assure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety/quality compliance
  • Ensure incoming materials and Contract Manufacturing products' verification processes are compliant
  • Create and effectively implement Quality departmental procedures such as, SOP's, SSOP's, MSS, changeover procedures and test methods
  • Support the factory trial process as a core team member to determine feasibility of new products and or process changes related to product and packaging
  • Conduct investigations on critical consumer complaints, provide report of findings and corrective actions
  • Remain current with industry technological changes and attend necessary training seminars
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices
  • Serve as back-up for the Quality Assurance Manager in her/his absence
  • May perform other duties as assigned

The Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Quality performance and overall the hiring, training, coaching, and development of the Quality Assurance Technicians team. This role assists in recordkeeping and verification of key activities and ensures adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, GFSI standards and product quality. They exhibit excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills to ensure quality standards are met on a daily basis and facilitate factory quality and food safety improvements.


Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or closely related field of study)
  • 3+ years of experience food safety/quality/sanitation in the food industry
  • 1+ years of experience managing people (preferred)
  • PCQI and HACCP certified
  • GFSI certification preferred

Working Conditions

  • Regularly work in a factory environment
  • Periodic off-shift and occasional weekend work required
  • Required to regularly sit
  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail
  • Must be able to keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Must be capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc. in the performance of job duties
  • Must be able to kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required

Salary Range: $80,546 - $104,700
