UC San Diego is hiring a talent pool of Senior Marine Cooks to support the dining needs of our seagoing research vessels. This will be a great opportunity for candidates who are open to on-call or per diem-type work with UC San Diego.
Duration: This will be a rolling need with the department anticipated to last up to 1-3 months.
Compensation: $32.92/hour. This role is not currently eligible for benefits through the university.
Work Schedule: Variable - 8 hours a day with potential for overtime. Employees will be asked to support research trips lasting up to 7 days.
Location: Point Loma and on Ship during research operations.
DESCRIPTIONUnder the general supervision of the Master, the Senior Marine Cook is responsible for the preparation of quality food/meals in a fast-paced, high-volume food service environment.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $68,733 - $100,146 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $32.92 - $47.96
