Web Designer / Developer IV

As a Web Designer / Developer IV at Cherokee Nation Systems Solutions (CNSS) in Charleston, SC, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining websites. With a bachelor's degree as a prerequisite and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in a federal agency setting, you will utilize your expertise to create visually appealing and user-friendly websites that meet client objectives.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Web Designer / Developer IV: Pay commensurate with experience.

Web Designer / Developer IV Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform website design and creation, from planning and conceptualization to development and testing.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their goals and requirements for establishing a website, conducting interviews to clarify objectives.
  • Plan, design, and develop the look and flow of websites, ensuring an intuitive and engaging user experience.
  • Create or supervise the design of digitized images, banners, bullets, charts, image maps, and other graphics to enhance the appearance of websites.
  • Utilize programming techniques and knowledge of computer internet systems to implement website functionality and features.
  • Test and edit websites for functionality, usability, and compatibility across different browsers and devices.
  • Maintain and update websites as needed, implementing changes based on client feedback or evolving requirements.
  • Document website design and development processes, including specifications, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and project managers, to deliver high-quality websites on time and within budget.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members, mentoring them in web design and development principles and techniques.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Web Designer / Developer IV Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in web design, computer science, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in web design and development, preferably in a federal agency setting.
  • Proficiency in website design and development tools and technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Strong visual design skills, with the ability to create aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly website layouts and graphics.
  • Knowledge of programming techniques and best practices for optimizing website performance and security.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the web design and development field.
  • Previous experience leading or directing the work of others is desirable.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous web design and development projects is preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
